Job purpose
The Human Resources Generalist position is responsible for facilitating and administering generalist activities to support the day to day human resources operations. General areas of responsibility include: planning, administering and reviewing activities concerned with recruitment, workers compensation and safety, training and development, compensation, benefits and culture. Works closely with the HR team and contributes to companywide HR projects and initiatives; Maintains strong relationships with internal customers.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
- Assists in managing the full employee life cycle process
- Manages entire new hire process for employees
- Manages employee changes (new hires, job changes, transfers, manager changes, terminations, etc.) in company HRIS. Maintain data integrity of HRIS and participate in all system integration, upgrades and enhancements
- Oversees bi-weekly payroll processing
- Maintains active and terminated employees’ I-9s according to USCIS rules. Completes I-9 self-audit every 2 years. Manages employee files and record retention requirements for HR as per company guidelines
- Maintains record retention files per company guidelines and government compliance regulations
- Oversees employee files ensuring proper documentation of personnel actions
- Ensures that job descriptions and interview guides are maintained - accurate and up to date, particularly during periods of change
- Maintains tracking for FMLA
- Assists with ACA compliance and administrative reporting tasks
- Assists in the administration of benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, vacation, leave of absence, and employee assistance program
- Responsible for OSHA reporting and Workers Compensation Claims
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, programs, and employment verifications
- Responds to and participates in unemployment claims process
- Assists VP of Human Resources with performance review program to ensure effectiveness and compliance with company policies
- Assists in plans and coordinating Employee and Management Training Program (selection of training courses, coordinate dates and attendance, follow up with employees and managers to gather feedback)
- Assists VP of Human Resources with administrative responsibilities and special projects, including compilation of data, data analysis and report preparation/generation
- Assists VP of Human Resources with daily tasks and projects
- Coordinates and assists during HR training and employee events
- Maintains a focus for self and team on continuous learning that will enhance skill sets and growth opportunities

Qualifications
- Bachelors’ degree in human resources, business administration or related field and/or equivalent
- 3-5 years HR generalist experience, required with data, analysis trends and reports history
- Working knowledge in federal and state employment law, compensation, recruitment, benefits and leave of absences laws
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite-Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint required

- Carrying, pushing or pulling office items up to 10 lbs.
- Prolonged use of computer involved; use of hands and finger coordination; Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision. Color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
