Sr. Warehouse Manager

Job purpose 

Responsible for all areas of Warehouse and Operations functions; the purpose of this leadership position is to promote and implement the company’s core values and excellence in customer service; develops and executes strategies to optimize productivity in an accurate, safe, and cost-effective manner; responsible for maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers.   

Duties and responsibilities 

Provides leadership to facilitate excellence in customer service execution. 

Champions, initiates, and drives strategic objectives to remove barriers, improve processes, and facilitate organizational change. 

Provides strategic, multi-site leadership and management across warehouse facilities, overseeing diverse teams supporting warehouse and invoice department functions. 

Guides and directs the Warehouse Manager and Invoice Supervisor in the overall performance management of employees within their respective areas. 

Establishes short- and long-term operational strategies, including training, employee development, and process improvement across a broad range of operational needs. 

Establishes performance objectives and coaches Managers and Supervisors to achieve their respective productivity and inventory goals. 

Directs the carrier management process, including carrier selection, qualification, and performance evaluation. 

Monitors product import and export processes to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and legal requirements. 

Builds and sustains a strong safety culture across all warehouse facilities by championing best practices, safety awareness, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

Ensures compliance with internal safety standards and applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, fire safety standards, forklift certifications, and other warehouse safety requirements. 

Provides leadership and direction in achieving company goals while effectively addressing operational challenges and changing business needs. 

Anticipates staffing needs for the Warehouse and Invoice departments based on operational demands. 

Drives performance related to product inventory control, tracking, shipping, and receiving. 

Provides consistent communication through clear and concise department meetings. 

Provides leadership to enhance team skills and competencies and establish team performance objectives. 

Leads and oversees the maintenance and ongoing improvement of the computerized Warehouse Management System (WMS). 

Oversees the performance review process for employees within the warehouse and invoice reporting structure. 

Manages employee performance concerns within span of control and ensures appropriate follow-up. 

Addresses and corrects unsafe conditions and behaviors within work areas. 

Builds morale across teams by providing clear direction, recognition, and positive feedback. 

Holds Managers and Supervisors accountable for employee development goals and performance expectations. 

Maintains a focus for self and team on continuous learning that will enhance skill sets and growth opportunities.

Qualifications 

A 4 year bachelor’s degree in Business or Transportation/Logistics Management and/or equivalent experience 

Minimum 10 years of warehouse management field experience, strongly preferred 

Minimum of 5 years of experience developing and executing strategy initiatives required 

Knowledge of regulations relating to transportation and warehouse operations 

Expertise in inventory control and order fulfillment standards and metrics 

Knowledge of warehouse management systems, inventory control and workforce scheduling  

Demonstrated ability to influence desired outcomes through direct and indirect resources 

Must be familiar with and proficient in the use of computerized systems used for inventory management  

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and Excel, strongly preferred  

Physical requirements

Heavy lifting: Raising or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling)

Exposure to varied temperatures within warehouse environment 

Work inside and outside; work around machinery with moving parts and vehicles 

Carrying, pushing, pulling boxes and items; up to 75-100 lbs, at times.
